Our commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Accessibility is treated as part of building the site, not as a later fix.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML structure with a single main heading per page and logical heading order
- A visible skip link and a fully keyboard-operable navigation, including the mobile menu
- Text contrast checked against a 4.5:1 minimum, and a dark display mode
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images; decorative images left unlabelled
- Form fields with real labels, required-field indication and error text that is announced
- Motion and transitions disabled automatically when your system requests reduced motion
- Layout that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide
Known limitations
Some historical PDF documents we send by email are not fully tagged for screen readers. If you need one of these in an accessible format, contact us and we will produce it, usually within two business days.
Accessibility at our office
The Magazine Street entrance is step-free, with an accessible restroom and parking directly behind the building. Interpreters are available in Spanish, Arabic and Kinyarwanda; other languages are arranged with about three days’ notice. We provide large-print documents and will read paperwork aloud on request. Home visits are always available where travel is difficult.
